The Clock is Ticking
August and September have been pretty damn crazy as things begin to shift up a gear and pieces of the puzzle gradually begin to fall into place. I wanted to give you an update as to how things are developing and give you an indication of when An Empire of Dreams is looking set to release.
Goodies month comes to a close
August (and into September) was my chance to share with you about the protagonists of An Empire of Dreams – the characters that the story is told through. Through three separate posts I delved into the ensemble of individual people that forms the main characters of the story and what makes them all special. If you didn’t get to read them check them out below!
My original plan was for September to be ‘baddies month’ – focusing on the beautifully dark antagonists of the story – but this will now be moved into October to allow me some more time to get everything in place for launching the book.
Launching a book can’t be that difficult, right?
In reality there’s so much that needs to be done that it feels quite unreal. Creating a professional website, possibly moving this blog to incorporate it into the website, Facebook page created and populated, Facebook ads, editing the book, book cover design, promotional materials, gathering reviews, giveaways and competitions … the list goes on and on. To make this a success and get the book into as many hands as possible there is so much to do!
I do have some news on a few of these ventures however.
Firstly, I can confirm that the book has an editor! After six nonstop weeks of collaborating with potential editors I’ve found the perfect one for An Empire of Dreams. The changes they have suggested are fair and will really help the text to shine that little bit brighter and really be memorable. They will also help to refine the often generous detail that I like to provide my readers with.
There is also a strong hope for a designer for the book cover too. You’ve already seen the latest design at the top of the page – what do you think of it? Did you spot the central root at the bottom almost looks like a hand reaching out into the past whilst the city grows into the future? The title needs major reworking though – it is almost lost amongst the imagery.
I have now created a website which will also help potential audiences to discover the story and delve a little deeper into it. I wanted a website that had a very professional look to it, and I have already planned a series of promotional videos that I will be launching on there too.
Here’s a sneak peek of the header I have currently chosen – white clouds will blow over the text which looks pretty amazing!
So when are we looking to launch?
I have always had in my head that the book will be launched in early December 2016 at the latest. I have a specific date in mind for quite a while now, but we’ll see how times treats me over the coming weeks!
More to follow soon!
